Sea Sport 2700 - A Boat Owner's Insights Review

Obtaining the Highly Desired Sea Sport

Sea Sports, well-known in the Northwest, are a design popular for serious fishing or just getting away quick and with ease. Designed and built in Bellingham, WA, these boats are built to maximize comfort and safety while being able to handle rugged conditions.

Certainly, these attributes caught the eye of the current owner, who has owned this vessel since 2004. “After considering several boat designs,” the owner says, “we bought the highly desired and well-known Sea Sport to cruise and fish locally around the San Juan’s and Vancouver Island. We wanted to maximize the boat size to trailer with ease yet comfortable enough to spend days on her.”

Amenities for comfort and enjoyment include:
• Heat, added by owner
• Full array of electronics, added by owner
• Fishing gear, added by owner
• Galley
• Head with shower

“This boat really fits all our needs,” says the owner, and with all it has to offer it’s easy to see why.

All Throughout the Salish Sea on this Sea Sport, and Even into Alaska!

When asked what they have most enjoyed about the vessel the owner replied, “Everything – this boat is wonderful to fish for salmon on the banks of the straits of Juan de Fuca during the day and then anchor into a quiet bay for the night to watch the sunset as we grill up fresh caught fish.”

This Sea Sport Navigator traveled to many such beautiful locations. The owner has taken trips, “…to the San Juans (Salish Sea), Puget Sound, Barclay Sound, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound bringing along kayaks, fishing the Broughtons, and Neah Bay.”

The owner even cruised along the West side of Vancouver Island and as far north as Southeast Alaska by doing a combination of running and trailering. Think of all the places you’ve always dreamed of cruising that would be made possible on this Sea Sport Navigator 2700.

Ride, Speed and Dependability

When asked what has most impressed the owner about its performance the answer comes quick, “Ride, speed and dependability.”

The owner goes on to explain, “When you want to get to the fishing grounds quickly, this boat can run through the rip tides, and head into seas from 20+ mph winds. All while having coffee in hand. And after a hard day of fishing, it’ll head back and ride following seas. The Sea Sport 2700 likes challenging weather.”

The Flybridge on this Sea Sport is Where it’s At

While this boat has three separate helm stations, there’s no question that the owner’s favorite spot to drive from is the flybridge.

“We live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest,” he says, “The view from up top while underway is spectacular. I found running out to the straits for Halibut, spending a day fishing, and heading back on the bridge is the reward for a hard day of catching. Cruising towards Chatterbox Falls with mountains on both sides of us sitting on the fly bridge was most amazingly beautiful.”

The flybridge also has the added benefit of additional ample storage space and has a windscreen to eliminate windage and keep driver and passengers warm.

Passing on the Helm

The cruise to Alaska on the Sea Sport was an influential experience for the owner and created a desire to focus on cruising long term as they enter retirement. With that, they are selling this Sea Sport to purchase a Helmsman 38E Pilothouse to make more long-range cruising possible.
