A Boat Owner's Insights - Ranger Tugs R-27 NW Edition
A Ranger Tugs: Perfect for a Sailor Turned Power Boater

“I grew up as a sailor,” the owner begins to explain when asked why he chose a Ranger Tugs, “However, when we moved to the PNW, we decided we wanted to transition to a power boat so that we could more readily take advantage of the many cruising opportunities here. The Ranger Tugs was a perfect boat for first time power boat owners. It comes fully equipped with the latest electronic and navigation equipment, safety and docking gear and is ready to cruise from the delivery date.”

The owner was also, “…attracted to the Ranger Tugs because of its immense popularity in the PNW. There is an active owners’ group that is a great source of practical advice and information. The group also organizes frequent rendezvous at Roche Harbor and other cruising destinations, so it is a great way to meet other boaters.”

Not only this, but the outstanding factory support from Ranger Tugs was deciding factor, as were the entertaining webinars hosted by the Ranger Tugs team on cruising, maintenance and other popular boating topics.

Cruising the Seas and Creating Memories

From impromptu cruising around Bainbridge Island, to exploring the San Juan’s, to simply relaxing in the spacious cockpit over a glass of wine, this Ranger Tugs has helped the owners make memorable times that will last a lifetime.

In particular, their favorite memory making destinations were, “…Roche Harbor on San Juan Island and Rosario on Orcas Island.” The Ranger Tugs 27’s speed allowed them to make the San Juan Islands trip in just four hours from its slip in Poulsbo, allowing great flexibility in timing.

When not underway overnight, the owners, “…also enjoy day cruises around Bainbridge Island, anchoring at Blakely Harbor to admire the Seattle skyline or tying up to a mooring ball on Blake Island Marine State Park for a quick lunch and hike on the island.”

A Boat That Comes Totally Equipped

By choosing options to fully equip boat the owners were, “…excited to get a boat that was cruise-ready from day one.” This tug has been kept in excellent condition. The only addition has been a galvanic isolator, which significantly extends the service life of the zincs.

The boat comes well equipped with features normally found on boats much bigger, including:
• Radar
• Chart plotter
• Autopilot
• Safety equipment
• Fully equipped galley, including a microwave and Keurig coffee maker
• An electric barbecue
• An excellent sound and TV system

Speed and Maneuverability Make for Easy Boating

When asked about performance, the owners listed what they admired about the Tug with ease.

“The bow thrusters make docking easy. Plus, we liked the low maintenance and dependability of the Yamaha 300 outboard engine, which carries an extended six-year factory warranty. Unlike a conventional trawler, the Ranger Tugs cruises easily at speeds between 25 and 30, which enables us to reach our destination quickly, outrun bad weather and expand our daily cruising range.”

Truly, this Ranger Tugs just needs a new captain and destination!

Passing on the Helm

“We enjoyed our Ranger Tugs, which enabled us to transition easily into power boating from sailing,” say the owners, “However, like many boaters, we succumbed to the lore of getting a larger boat. We had an idea this might happen, which is why, when we bought the Tugs, we simultaneously bought a large slip to grown in.”

To help them in this transition, the owners, “…chose Waterline Boats to list our boat because we were impressed with the attention and focus of the sales team, Waterline’s knowledge of the market and its use of innovative techniques to track internet interest in the boat.”
