The grandkids sitting on the fly bridge with grandpa at the helm, wind in everyone’s hair. Seven weeks of fishing in the wild, pristine waters near Ucluelet, Vancouver Island. Zipping all over the Salish Sea, two twin diesels powering trips to places like the Hood Canal, to bigger waters like Haro Strait.
These are the experiences made possible by one couple’s dream fishing boat, the Pacific Victor Marine 34 Aluminum Sport Fisher currently listed with Waterline Boats. For these owners, they can’t think of anything that would please them more seeing this boat make another family as happy as it has made them. We had a chance to chat with them and learned what makes this boat a genuinely unique opportunity for new owners to create lasting memories of their own.
Building a Dream: The Creation of this Pacific Victor Marine 34 Aluminum Sport Fisher
The wife of this couple was a multi-generational Washington native, and grew up on the shores of Hood Canal. She met her husband, from North Dakota, while they were students at the University of Washington, and she subsequently taught this Midwesterner all about saltwater fishing. Being on the water, and especially fishing, was a mainstay activity, and then became a family affair when they had kids.
When their seven children were young this outdoorsy family fished from a 10-foot Livingston. Over time, they graduated into larger and more comfortable fishing boats, and eventually grandchildren were welcomed and included in the boating fun. Upon retiring, the owners had this Pacific Victor Marine 34 Aluminum Sport Fisher boat custom built.
Having this Sport Fisher built was a real dream come true. This vessel incorporates everything they ever wanted in a boat and is a culmination of all their lessons learned on the water over the years. As a result, it’s a real Northwest stand-out.
The boat afforded the couple special time alone, but with enough space for friends or family to join as overnight guests. In retirement, the owners travelled for weeks at a time far and wide in the Puget Sound and up into British Columbia, navigating from the fly bridge in nice weather, and from inside if the weather turned bad.
Keen Eye to Design Detail and Meticulous Maintenance
No detail was too small to consider when designing this boat, perfect for Pacific Northwest fishing and cruising. From the fish box allowing for both fresh and saltwater (and the top of the box flipping over to become a cutting board!), to the finish on the hull and deck, every feature is thoughtful and top-notch.
Comfort was another major component in design consideration, and this aluminum fishing boat is quite accommodating even for overnight guests. When family spent the night, the boat never felt cramped. There was enough space and the layout was such that there was privacy and separation in the main cabin (where the dining table drops down as a bed) from the forward stateroom.
With enough endurance to make long range cruising possible, twin diesels also mean the boat is speedy. Cruising at speed is comfortable, and family lunchtime trips to Poulsbo from its previous slip in Edmonds were a common excursion. With these twin diesels, it’s also very maneuverable, and tight spaces are no problem for this vessel.
This boat has only ever been owned and operated by this family and has been meticulously maintained. It has been watched over carefully, and taken to Pat’s Marine Engines, Inc. for all engine servicing and mechanical needs.
