Northwest Views with the Camano 31 Trawler Gnome
The Camano 31 Trawler Gnome is designed with the Northwest in mind. Ready to easily handle a wide variety of conditions, this trawler is also arranged to take full advantage of the Northwest’s fabulous views and seascapes. The current owner of this Camano Gnome well knows this – bought specifically as an entertaining boat to raise money for several south Puget Sound nonprofits, its remarkable visibility allowed guests to enjoy the view from everywhere on the boat.

Why did you originally buy this Camano 31 Trawler Gnome?
I bought the boat as a “Cheese & Wine” boat. A Cheese & Wine boat is used to raise money [for charity], which I did for several nonprofits in the area, like the local children’s museum and hospital. I previously owned two harbor tugs which were used for the same purpose, and for racing.
What have you most enjoyed about it?
The best part, I think, about the Gnome is its layout. The interior is set up just right for entertaining while still running the boat. All the windows allow everyone to really enjoy the cruise – even if it is raining. And the fact that it looks a little like the “African Queen” makes it that much more of a conversation piece. The combination of the hefty rub rail and shape of the hull invokes a loose interpretation of the infamous African Queen.

Where has this Camano Gnome cruised?
It has had a couple runs to Gig Harbor for lunch, but has otherwise stayed very local and in its boathouse.
What has impressed you most about its performance?
The performance is very good, and it’s easy on diesel consumption. The other thing that is very appealing is the noise level when underway, as there is very little motor noise.
Are there any notable additions to this Camano Trawler?
I had all the carpeting replaced with teak and holly flooring, which made a big difference in appearance. I also upgraded some of the electronics. The bottom is scrubbed, the batteries are all new, and the zincs were always checked regularly.
Why are you listing this Camano with Waterline Boats?
I am listing with Waterline boats because I knew that they were the go-to place for Camano Yachts…[the Waterline Boats] crew treated me very well with all their knowledge about yachts.
