Waterline Boats ~broker spotlight | Randy Hacker

wlb-broker-spotlight-rh

Born in Indiana and raised in Texas, Randy Hacker got his love of boating from his family. Specifically his father, who loved to fish, and who often took Randy with him. While Randy doesn’t consider himself the most avid of fishermen, his memory of being on boats as a child influenced his decision to get into the boating business later in life. Randy bought his first boat, a 14’ runabout, at the age of 17.

rh

“When you’re at that age the first things you want are a boat and a car. We primarily water-skied and we did a little bit of over night camping, which was a lot of fun. That’s what got me into the brokerage business – the great memories that come from boating with the family.”

Before becoming a broker Randy had a long career in the consumer electronics industry. This career eventually brought him to Seattle. Randy loved Seattle because it was (and still is) a city that embraces and is embraced by boaters. After decades in the corporate world Randy was ready for a change.

“I just wanted to do something that was more fun and that gave me the ability to help people enjoy the boating experience — because this the BEST area to enjoy boating.”

Randy started his brokerage career in Seattle in 1999. He jumped right in, working with a company that builds large boats (65’-82’) and visiting their factory in Taiwan many times. Randy found that he enjoyed the boat business.

In 2011, the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association referred Randy to Scott and Lisa Helker of Waterline Boats. Randy admired their business values, how they treated their customers and employees, and what they were doing with the new Helmsman Trawlers line. He has worked for Waterline Boats ever since.

Currently Randy owns a small sailboat and enjoys whatever time he can spend on his boat.

“That’s probably one of the most therapeutic things you can do. Boats always love and reciprocate your attention. Some people like to fly planes, some people like to fish, some people like to hang around the bar. I like hanging around boats.”

Featured Boat – Tollycraft 48 CPMY!

The Tollycraft 48 Cockpit Motor Yacht is a desirable model and known for its top-quality design and construction. Waterline Boats / Boatshed Seattle recently added a 1985 Tollycraft to our inventory!

Come on…picture yourself stepping aboard for a peek at some of the highlights of this Tollycraft 48 CPMY….

  • The salon entries are port and starboard doors on the main deck and an aft entry from the sundeck. The salon is bright and open with an L-shaped convertible sectional, a custom high/low coffee and dining table, a practical breakfast bar, built-in entertainment system and a leather helm chair that doubles for salon seating.
  • The galley is flooded with natural light from the windshield above. There’s no feeling of being in a cave, or separation from your guests with the open view to the salon. Yet the mess you make in the U-shaped galley is out of sight. A comfortable booth dinette, perfect for a casual lunch with the crew when not entertaining is located just across from the galley to starboard.
  • Forward of the galley is the guest V-berth stateroom and en-suite head.
  • The master stateroom is three steps down aft of the salon, providing plenty of separation from the guest stateroom which makes for much more civilized cruising. A centerline queen berth keeps the task of making the bed easy. Other amenities include an overhead hatch, hanging lockers, two night stands, storage drawers, a vanity and en-suite head with a large separate shower.
  • Take just a couple of steps up from the sundeck to the fully enclosed canvas-and-isinglass flybridge, perfect for protected piloting and also an additional room for social gatherings or for sipping a beverage while enjoying the sunset or a hardy cup of coffee while watching the sunrise.
