Camano 41 Progress Report

These photos of the first new Camano 41 from Bracewell Boatworks were taken during our visit on January 22. The boat is progressing well, and is on-track for launching in early April. Construction quality is excellent — Bracewell is bringing extensive experience from custom building of large yachts to this lovely boat. The interior is currently being constructed, with all bulkheads in place, door and window cutouts complete, and appliance installation in progress. The bridgedeck and the flybridge cowling will be installed within two weeks and complete enclosure of the boat will follow.

New Camano 41 Progress Report

Hull Assembly

Craftsmen at Bracewell Boatworks are progressing swiftly on the first new Camano 41. These photos show the hull sections assembled, the stringer assembly installed, the Volvo-Penta D6-435 engine mounted, fuel tanks set, and interior bulkheads under construction. The deck and superstructure section has been layed-up, and various other components are well along, including the main cabin floor, head and shower assemblies, and preparations for lay-up of the bridgedeck. With every visit to the yard we’re more and more impressed by the thoughtful and skilled boatbuilders at Bracewell, and their enthusiasm for the Camano 41. And the proven, well-designed Camano 41 hull looks spectacular in blue!

Hull Stringer Mold

Bracewell Boatworks has begun construction of the first new Camano 41, with the major hull components almost completed and ready to pull from the molds. For the new Camano 41, Bracewell is improving and modernizing the boat at every step of its construction. Even at this early stage, the boat features an improved layup schedule with only hand-laid fiberglass and use of modern fiberglass biaxial cloth layers, and the use of vacuum-bagging techniques. The result is a significantly stronger hull that also reduces overall weight.

Although not visible in these pictures, the outer layer of the hull is a blue gel coat. The next set of pictures, to be posted in December will show the hull in its full striking form.

Camano 41 Design Modified

Camano 41 with Helm Station DoorWith feedback from customers and dealers, Bracewell Boatworks has modified the Camano 41 to include a helm station door! Providing quick access to the foredeck, the pantographing-type door makes both docking and single-handing safer and easier. The door is made by Diamond Seaglaze, so it seals watertight and is sturdily built.

With the addition of the helm station door, the window line has been modified to present a new clean and streamlined appearance!

2009 Trawler Fest Anacortes

TrawlerFestThe Waterline Boats crew enjoyed a successful TrawlerFest in beautiful Anacortes. After getting thoroughly soaked on arrival day we appreciated the sunny weather that predominated during the show. The Bracewell Pacesetter 540 received several “best in show” comments from guests and the Mariner 37 Pilothouse Trawler hosted many repeat visitors and two sea trials before returning to our Lake Union office. We had a lot of interest in our Boatshed International Yacht Brokerage system, which continues to grow with over 70 offices worldwide and is proving itself to be the best process for listing and selling a used boat!
