What is your boating background?
My boating experience began at about age 20, when I began fishing and water skiing at my father-in-law’s place on Puget Sound by Harstine Island. My brother bought a 25 foot Catalina sailboat around that time, later moving up in length to 36 feet, and I sailed with him regularly.
Do you currently own a boat? What kind?
I currently own a 42 foot CHB Aft Cabin Trawler. Prior to that, I had a 37 foot Hunter sailboat, as well as a variety of ski boats.
What is your favorite boating destination and why?
Boating to Winslow on Bainbridge Island for the Friday night oyster feed at The Harbor House Restaurant is a favorite. I’ve enjoyed boating to Desolation Sound, Blake Island, Port Townsend, LaConner and Deer Harbor and Sucia Island in the San Juans. The remoteness of BC destinations like the Princess Luisa Inlet is always interesting. Coming home from Desolation Sound this past summer, I saw more whales than I've seen cumulatively in all my years of boating.
What do you like most about being a broker at Waterline Boats?
Meeting so many people that enjoy the same places -- our customers tend to be resourceful, bright people who are fun to be around.
